Ratios OG 163

in a certain business, production index p is directly proportional to efficiency index e, which is in turn directly proportional to invextment index i. what is p if i = 70?

1) e = 0.5 whenever i = 60
2) p = 2.0 whenever i = 50

i understand how 1 is insufficient because there is no given info on the relationship betw p and i or p and e

[spoiler]b

i dont know what i am missing in this problem

Answer : B
p = 70 * 2.0 / 50
p is propotional to e , which inturn is propotional to i.
so p is propotional to i.

Explaination :

p = Xe & e =Yi so
p = X(Yi) = XYi

p=ae = k/i

a i=60 means k = 0.5 * 60 =30. tells nothing about a here.Not sufficient.

b i=50 means p= k/i = k/50 = > k = 100
thus
for i=70 means p= 100/70 = 10/7

B it is.
