Gold is 19 times heavier than water. Copper is 9 times heavier than water. In what ratio should Gold and Copper be mixed to get an alloy 15 times heavier than water.

C*(15-9) = G*(19-15)
6C = 4G
C/G = 4/6 = 2/3

(percent/price difference between weaker solution and desired solution) x (amount of weaker solution) = (percent/price difference between the stronger solution and desired solution) x (amount of stronger solution)

Here, weaker alloy is copper (9 times heavier than water)
Desired alloy is 15 times heavier than water
Stronger alloy is gold (19 times heavier than water)

Let quantity of copper = C
Quantity of Gold = G.

From the above mentioned formula, C*(15-9) = G*(19-15)
So It Goes
