ratio of red cars to black cars

The ratio of the number of red cars in a certain parking lot to the number of black cars is 3 to 8. If there are 72 black cars in the lot, how many red cars are there in the lot?
A. 11
B. 15
C. 24
D. 27
E. 32

IMO, it is D. But OA says it is C.

My steps are as follows:
Given that R/B = 3/8
=> 3/8 = R/72
=> R = 3*72 / 8 = 27

R/B=3/8 so 8R=3B and R=3B/8

Given that B is 72 so R would be 3*72/8=27 And D

I dont understand how the answer can be C

I agree with moneyman. I also got D. Furthermore, if you plug in 24/72, you will not end up with 3/8, you will end up with 3/9.
