on a certain sight seeing tour, ratio of number of women to children was 5 to 2. what was the unmber of men on the sight seeing tour?

1) ratio of nmber of children to men was 5 to 11
2) the number of women was less than 30

The ratio Women / Children is 5/2 and we are looking for the number of men on the tour.

1) Men / Chilren is 5 / 11 - This ratio compared with the other ratio does not help to find the total number of men.
2) It would be possible to find the number of men if the number of women was fix and not less or more than... In that case, the less than is hyphothetical and cannot help us to determine how many men were on the tour.

Answer E???

1. C:M = 5:11, and W:C = 5:2
W:C:M = 25:10:22 Insuff
2. W < 30 Insuff

Combined, sufficient: W = 25
M = 22

HE HAS MULTIPLIED FIRST RATIO BY 2 AND THE SECOND RATIO BY 5

WE GET C:M EQUAL TO 10:22
AND W:C EQUAL TO 25:10
NOW WE COMBINE BOTH RATIOS ( 10 IS COMMON)

YES THAT PUTS A CONSTRAINT ON IT IF W > 30 ANND LETS ASSUME IF IT WAS 50 THEN NUMBER OF MEN WOULD BE 44 OR IF IT WAS 100 , THEN NUMBER OF MEN WOULD BE 88. KNOWING W < 30 THERE IS ONLY ONE CONDITION WHICH SATISFIES THE RATIO SINCE WE CAN NOT HAVE FRACTIONS AS NUMBER OF PEOPLE ( ONLY INTEGERS COUNT NUMBER OF PEOPLE)
