Can someone show me how to solve this without using real number only algerbra

A car travels from Town A to Town B at a average of 40mph and returns along the same route at 50mph. What is the avg speed for the entire trip

Solution:
Let the distance from Town A to Town B be x miles
Time taken by the car to travel from A to B is x/40 hours.
Time taken by the car to travel from B to A is x/50 hours.
Avg speed for the entire trip is (Total distance)/(total time) = 2x/(x/40 + x/50) = 44.44 mph
