In May, Xiang sold 15 used cars. For these 15 cars, the range of the selling prices was $15,000 and the lowest selling price was $4,500 In June, Xiang sold 10 used cars. For these 10 cars, the range of the selling prices was $16,500 and the lowest selling price was $6,100. What was the range of the selling prices of the 25 used cars sold by Xiang in May and June?

lowest+Range =largest

so, in may 4500+15000=19500(the largest)

in june 6100+16500=22600

range of june and may= the largest minus the lowest =22600-4500=18100

D is the asnw

A.$15,600

D.$18,100

The range of the selling prices in May was $15,000 and the lowest selling price was $4,500, so the highest price in May = 15000 + 4500 = $19,500
The range of the selling prices in June was $16,500 and the lowest selling price was $6,100, so the highest price in June = 16500 + 6100 = $22,600

The lowest price of a car in May-June was $4,500 and highest price of a car in May-June was $22,600, so range for May-June = 22,600 - 4,500 =
$18,100
The correct answer is D.

hi anurag,

for the lowest price of a car in May-June the price taken was s $4,500 then why was the highest price of a car in May-June taken as $22,600 ( a combination of two valuesi.e. 16500 + 6100)

please clear the doubt

Range is Highest - Lowest.
We need to find Range for all 25 used cars.
Highest value is 22600
Lowest value is 4500
Range = 22600 - 4500 = 18100
