8.A huge flying reptile that died out with the dinosaurs some 65 million years ago, the Quetzalcoatlus had a wingspan of 36 feet, believed to be the largest flying creature the world has ever seen.
(A) believed to be
(B) and that is believed to be
(C) and it is believed to have been
(D) which was, it is believed,
(E) which is believed to be

(A) believed to be
(B) and that is believed to be <- Parallelism with THAT...
(C) and it is believed to have been
(D) which was, it is believed,
(E) which is believed to be

(A) believed to be – Correct option. “believed” is past participle and is qualifying the complete phrase before comma. Important point to notice is, who is believing here? Obviously us, human beings. In such situations, it’s ok not to mention the subject, it’s implicitly understood.
(B) and that is believed to be - “That” is ambiguous(reptile or wingspan)
(C) and it is believed to have been – First, “have” is wrong for singular subject the Quetzalcoatlus. Second, “have been” is present perfect. We can’t use present perfect for something that is no more existing.
(D) which was, it is believed, - “Which” is wrong. Also, “Which was” is totally unnecessary.
(E) which is believed to be – “which” is closest to wingspan, so it’s qualifying the wingspan, while the sentence is about the reptile.

IMO A

Agree with Karmayogi !

But In option E ,w hich refers to closest noun that is feet instead of wingspan IMO.

I think A has a run on error. My answer is C.

I think "it is" "that is" can be reduced here, so A is correct
