This question is from Princeton Review's Full Tests. I chose 'E' as the answer. But the official answer is B. The explanation provided is that since the square of y is always +v3, thus knowing the signs of x and z is sufficient to answer the question.

It seems like a silly question to ask.

I think the explanation is incorrect since the equation won't hold true for all values of x and z(<0).

Please correct me if I am making a mistake.

Hi,
Your question is not silly, but you have committed a silly mistake
Statement(2) says 0<= x, and 0 <= z
So, in essence, it means x >= 0 and z >= 0
So, st(2) is sufficient.

The image didn't upload very well.

The question asks if x,y and z are integers, is x + (square of y) + 3z >= 0

a) square of y >=0
b) x<=0 and z<=0

Oh gosh! I can't believe I made such a grave mistake! I have got to focus better. All the while I thought the condition was x<=0! Thanks man!

This is incorrect. In the image, it is given 0 <= x, and 0 <= z, not what you have typed.
