Question about the length and width of my next widescreen TV

This question woudlnt be on the GMAT because of the fact that you can't use a calculator but it was something I was trying to figure out the other day and I was able to solve it from things I learned studying. How would everyone else solve this (just to make sure I did it correctly)?

A television measures 60in diagonally. If the ratio of length to width is 16:9, what is the length and the width?

l:w = 16:9

l/w = 16/9

l = 16w/9

Using Pythagoras theorem

l^2+w^2 = 60^2

(16w)^2/81+w^2 = 3600

Youll get w = 865

length = 1537

9-16-25 is not the same as 3-4-5

9-12-15 or 15-20-25 is the same as 3-4-5

Shouldn't the diagonal be the longest?

(16w)^2/81+w^2 = 3600

(16w/9)(16w/9) =(256(w^2)/81) + w^2 = 3600

256w^2/81 + 81w^2/81 = 3600
337w^2/81 = 3600
337w^2 = 291600
w^2 = 865
w=29.4

l= 52.26
