Each person attending a fund-raising party for a certain club was charged the same admission fee. How many people attended the party?

1) If the admission fee had been $0.75 less and 100 more people attended, the club would have received the same amount in admission fees.

2) If the admission fee had been $1.50 more and 100 fewer people had attended, the club would have received the same amount in admission fees.

Given info in the question stem:

Let f be the fee collected and x be the number of people who attended

Total amount collected = fx

We need to find x

Stmt I) (less fee collected more people attended)

(f-.75)(x+100) = fx (1)

1 eqn 2 variables INSUFF


Stmt II

Very similar to statement I but this time more fee collected less people attended

(f+1.5)(x-100) = fx (2)

1 eqn 2 variables INSUFF

Statement I and II together

2 variables (f and x) 2 equations we can solve for x (fx cancels out in both equation if u look at (1) and (2)

y=people

xy=(y+100)(x-.75) (i)

Insuff only 1 equation

Stmt 2

xy=(y-100)(x-1.5)

Insuff only 1 equation

Together

You have 2 equations and 2 variable. Together they are sufficient

This might sound silly . But need your help in solving this

(f-.75)(x+100)=(f+1.5)(x-100)
fx+100f-.75x-75=fx-100f+1.5x-150

200f-2.25x+75=0

Now how do I solve for X ??
