Couple of thoughts:

1) if you can get a 560, you should be able to get a 600--have you tried taking a prep course?
2) you say you "need" a 600--why? is this based on averages posted by Wake's program? What many folks don't realize is that the evening program stats are not required to be added into the full time stats for the rankings. For this reason, schools can be (and are) a little more flexible on the admssions requirements. The evening programs are generally revenue generating programs for the universities, and they want to fill (and add) seats in these programs. If you can't ultimately pull off the 600, then apply anyway, aleviating concerns about academics by showing quant strength in other ways, and you just might get in.

Thanks for the reply. I am confident I can get a 600 but I believe I need to study smarter. I took a prep course but felt like I was getting the info through a fire hose. I think I need to narrow down.

I say I need a 600 because during my consultation my counselor said I needed a 600. I faxed my score last night and they invited me in for an interview today. My interview is scheduled for Friday. I hope the interview is not a cruel way to tell me I need to take the test again. I would imagine if my score was that bad in their eyes they would just tell me to take it again and forgo the interview which will be a waste of all our time if they are just going to tell me to take the test again. I find the invitation to interview encouraging. what do you think? I asked my couselor last week if they would schedule an interview either way and she stated something to the effect of "we will only schedule an interview if the rest of your application is satisfactory and then gave the example of not scheduling an interview if someone scored a 300 on the gmat because that does not meet their standards.

can you tell us the school name that you are applying for?

Getting an interview is a good sign. Many schools interview folks whom they consider to be "on the margin," which means you look good, but there may be an area of concern. In your case, it may very well be the GMAT, but it doesn't necessarily mean you have to retake. Since they don't have to report your score to the rankings, it's likely they want to just see you in person to innoculate any concerns they have. Go prepared with evidence of your academic abilities outside the GMAT (especially in the quantitative area) and you should satisfy their concerns. Good luck--this could be your shot at getting in.

Just wanted to update everyone one on my status for b school. I received my acceptance letter today for Wake Forest. Although I didnt "beat the gmat" I apparently scored well enough to get in. Thanks for all the replies!
