Solution: Tax paid on $50 = $2.50.

Thus, a tax, which is four times as much as the above, would be $(2.50 × 4) = $10.00 on $50.

Thus, the tax rate = \(\ \frac{10}{50}=0.2\)

Thus, this tax, expressed as a percentage = \(0.2=100\cdot\ \frac{2}{10}=20\%\)

Therefore, D is the correct answer.
