Which of the following ratios is most nearly equal to the ratio 1 + square root of 5 to 2?

a. 8 to 5
b. 6 to 5
c. 5 to 4
d. 2 to 1

Hi! Try this way-

To solve this question you need to know the value of sq. root of 5, which is 2.23. Now coming back to your question--

Ratio of 1 + square root of 5 to 2 = 1+ sq root of 5 / 2
= 1+ 2.23 /2
= 3.23/5
= 1.6 (approx.)

Now try out the answer choices, only 8/5 gives the answer closest/ equal to 1.6. So choice A is the answer.

I think you have a typo in your explanation ... I think you meant to say 3.23/2 ... not "3.23/5"
