The three plays in Preston Jones's "A Texas Trilogy" are completely independent, and each has only a peripheral relationship with the other.

a)independent, and each has only a peripheral relationship with the other.

c) independent, and they have only a peripheral relationship with the others.
d) independent and have only a peripheral relationship with one another.
e) independent and have only a peripheral relationship each with the other.

Not (A) b/c you are comparing more than two things so the use of 'the other' is not right.

(D) is right.

"one with another" is almost always wrong. The meaning is unclear, it is not concise. If you see that, I would say its safe to eliminate that answer choice immediately.

'with one another' is used for more than two things
'with each other' is used for two things

just like 'between' is used for two things and 'among' is used for more than two things.
