The ending of C sounds less awkward.

Answer should be 'C'. Choice 'B' is wrong because -

Elephants emit low-frequency sounds that are believed to originate from a small area on their foreheads, and they may use this

that are believed and this refer to the same thing (low frequency sounds), which I guess is wrong.

OA please?

(A) Believed to originate from a small area on their foreheads, elephants emit low-frequency sounds that may be used
Their is ambiguous here.

(B) Elephants emit low-frequency sounds that are believed to originate from a small area on their foreheads, and they may use this
Plural vs singular. that are believed to originate and this refer to the same thing which is wrong.

(C) Elephants emit low-frequency sounds, believed to originate from a small area on their foreheads, that they may use
Most concise and clear

(D) Originating, it is believed, from a small area on their foreheads; elephants emit low-frequency sounds they may use
Wordy

(E) Originating, it is believed, from a small area on their foreheads, low-frequency sounds are emitted by elephants that may be used
Wordy

I hope I am able to clear your doubts. I think you should refer to OG11 SC section, you will have an idea about the question types. 1000 SC is a bit tough than OG11.

Hi Vivek,

I always rely on OG and Mahattan for my basics. I have given one GMAT Prep and from that experience, I can say that SC lies between OG and 1000 SC.
