IMO A

I could not find any shortcut so solved for P and C in ternms of D

equations will be
5D + 35C = 7P
and
D + P = 14C

solve for P and C in terms of D

you will get
P = 105D/63
C = 12D/63

now
P+28C

you will get 7 as answer

I am sure there must be some shortcut but can't think of the same at this time :)

Could you please elaborate this procedure?
I am sure Stop@800 wont mind !

First step goes in setting up equations !!

equations will be
5D + 35C = 7P
and
D + P = 14C
D is dollar , C cents, P Pounds So i guess this would be straight forward from the question

and motive is to find the equivalent of pound and 35 cents

solvign the aboe eq for P and C

u get
P = 105D/63
C = 12D/63
p + 28C

105D/63+ [28*12D]/63
439D/63

7Dollars is the answer

Guys I got nice evening yesterday and I am stuk with calculations how to get

I understand the strategy but stuck with tactics.

Could please somebody post detailed calculations how to get
P = 105D/63
C = 12D/63

from
5D + 35C = 7P
and
D + P = 14C

Thanx in advance

5D + 35C = 7P
D + P = 14C

7P - 35C = 5D
-P + 14C = D

equn 2 * seven
and add both

7P - 35C = 5D
-7P + 98C = 7D
=============
63C = 12D

C = 12D / 63

substitute c in
D + P = 14C

Hope this helps
