In the xy-plane, each point on circle C has nonnegative x-coordinates and nonpositive y-Coordinates. If the center of C is at point (7, -4), what is the maximum possible circumference of C ?


(A) 4 *(22/7)

(B) 8 *(22/7)

(C) 9 *(22/7)

(D) 16 *(22/7)

(E) 49 *(22/7)

The biggest the circle can get is tangent to x-axis. So the radius would be 4, making the diameter 8. Circumference is pi (or in this case 22/7) times the diameter.

Answer is B.
