Is the following sentence correct :

'The new law requires a manufacturer to immiediately notify its customers whenever the government is contemplating a forced recall of any of its products'

Is the second possessive pronoun Its the culprit

Yes I guess so too, because the second "Its" seems to be corresponding to the Government rather than the manufacturer.

SC Gurus, please correct us.

I agree, the second "its" is ambiguous.

Why first 'its' is not ambigous? It can also refer to 'Law' or 'manufacturer'
