Hi,
I am a B.Tech chemical engineering graduate from National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy (Ranked among top 10 engineering colleges in India)
My GMAT score is 740 and GPA is 8.28/10
Class XII : 82.6%
Class X : 93.5%

I am currently working in petroleum refining sector in Reliance Industries Ltd.(Ranked no. 107 in Fortune Global 500 list) since July 2013. I am planning to apply to B-schools in October'2015 after 2 years of work experience so that I would have acquired a work experience of 3 years by the time I matriculate.

I have internship experience at Indian institute of technology (IIT)- Madras, Indian institute of management (IIM)- Bangalore and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL - Ranked 260th in fortune 500 list)

1)I have worked with an NGO, Cooperative of Cultural Development to establish non-governmental reforms in forming cooperatives for farmers.
2)I have worked on a public awareness campaign in association with Indian national science congress on the "effect of junk food on people especially teenagers"
3)I have also volunteered to teach underprivileged children
4)During my internship at IIT Madras I wrote articles on
(i) Vulture deaths due to feeding on drugged cattle carcasses
(ii)Harmful side effects of insecticide Endosulfan

I was a member of organizing team of college technical fest
Hobbies: painting, swimming, playing cricket, badminton and listening to music

Target Schools:-

Which among these are ambitious, within reach and safe.
What are the prospects of getting an admit into other B-schools outside US like insead,IE spain, LBS
Can I add anything else to my profile to make it more appealing

740 on the GMAT and an undergraduate GPA of 8.28 (convert it to 4 point scale) is really good. Working with Reliance industries is a big plus for your resume. Getting into business schools in the US with a work experience of 3 years is a little difficult. It is not the quantity of the work experience, but the quality which schools look at. Your profile shows a serious lack of leadership experience which is something which schools look at. Your extracurriculars involve a lot of volunteering and work related to good causes, but again there is a lack of activities which can highlight your leadership potential. The schools which you wish to target are highly selective and you need to be above average in all aspects of your profile to stand a chance at receiving an admit from them. Getting into MBA programs in the Europe is even difficult with a work experience of 3 years. The only advantage which you have is your work experience is in the sector which is not very competitive, but it will be really difficult for you to get an admit.

I would suggest you to wait for atleast a year, two if possible, work in some leadership positions and then apply to business schools.

4. Some unique extra curricular

during the next year, and come 2015 you will be an awesome candidate!

Agreed - you have a solid foundation. Now build a house on top of it that'll cause folks to take a second look! Be AGGRESSIVE in finding the components Jon listed. The clock is already ticking and you have ~13 months to make this happen.

Remember - you're coming from an overrepresented pool so find ways to stand out! Find opportunities that are meaningful and impactful. Find activities that are unique that'll cause an admissions director to remember you!
