Interesting...I have to say that you might not be getting a positive "pop" with this strategy, but it could work. The first question raised will be why are you applying to a part-time program when you don't live in the city. While a transfer is a possibility in your career, consulting is also a career known for travel so it is important you explicitly state how the travel and office transfer will be managed while you are in the program.

Likewise, these part-time programs are not necessarily "easier" to get into than many full-time programs. They generally have an applicant pool similar to their full-time programs, but the average work experience is higher.

I think you could be competitive for these part-time programs, assuming you give a good plan for the transfer/travel question. However, I would encourage you to really think about what you want from your MBA experience. Do you want to change careers? Do you want the opportunity to do an internship and solely focus on your MBA/future career for two years? If you do want these things, then I really think you should pursue full-time programs. If you don't want these things, then you should move forward with this plan.
