Looking good so far.
Needless to say a LOT will also depend on your GMAT score, bu from what you have written it's obvious that smarts is not what you are lacking, so I'm confident there!
Other than that your numbers are promising, esp. the promotions.

I think you have TWO missions to get yourself in B-school:
1. Show how all that wonderful experience, and knowledge is translatable to business and to management. The five patents is awesome, because many a company was built off only one! So it shows us that you have the capacity to invent, which is great. But can you DO something with it? Can you show that you have negotiation skills? fund raising skills? skills to recruit the necessary partners? to lead others?

2. Make yourself stand out - You know this already, but Indian Male Techie isn't the easiest of profiles necessarily. So what else have you done besides just work? What else can we throw at the AdCom to interest them?

Now you just need to decide where to apply. With your background if you hit a sweet GMAT you could certainly reasonably apply to some great two year programs - Haas, Tepper, Anderson, McCombs (and others), as for one year programs, if that's the path you will go, likely your schools will be in Europe.
