GPA - 3.42(3.85 last 45 hours) Major: Business Management, Minor:Finance, Oklahoma State University
GMAT - 690 (42,41)
Dell - Inside Sales - 1 promotion 2 yrs right now, 3 yrs at matriculation.
Team Player Award for Q3 2008
Department Philanthropy Chair - Participated in Relay for life, American Hearth Assoc. Heart walk, OKC memorial marathon (volunteer handing out water) etc...
I have a little bit of a unique situation. My wife is an attorney in the Army, and I will have to find a job wherever she is stationed. So I'm leaning towards the health care industry because it is growing and I should be able to find work almost anywhere. Because of this location restraint and the economy, I'd like to go somewhere that I could receive a decent amount of scholarship money. What do you think my chances are at these school?

Dear sethnh,

I think you have a really good shot at gaining admission to your target schools based on the profile you posted. Decisions are definitely impacted by essays, recommendations, and interviews, so be sure to put in the necessary effort to distinguish yourself from the competition. Scholarships are tougher to get, so it is hard to really gauge how competitive you are as it will depend on the applicant pool you compete with at each school. However, SMU, Vanderbilt and Notre Dame all do award notable amounts. Yale is definitely going to be your reach school and the biggest question mark on scholarship awards though.

HI Lisa

I am Nitin from India. Could you kindly help me shortlist some B-Schools that i can apply to this year(Batch Starting 2010) with a score of around 700 in the GMAT. Here is a snapshot of my profile. Kindly advise me whether I should try this year or wait for another year so that I have significant work ex. My primary targets are ISB, CEIBS, NUS and NANYANG. I am also considering MSC ( Management) Options at LSE, HEC and other institutions under the CEMS.

Waiting another is a problem because of the financial stability of the family.

Dear Nitin,

I encourage you to visit our sticky on school selection for tips on identifying programs that are a match for you. Whether or not you should wait another year to apply is something you must decide for yourself. If you feel you are ready for business school, then you should go ahead and apply. If you believe you will have more leadership experiences if you wait another year, then it might be good to wait.
