Hello everyone. I have a profile-evaluation related question for you expert folks here. Thanks in advance to those of you who take the time out to respond. My details are below:

Hi I am Dhwani (F/23)
Appearing for GMAT on 11th of October.

I have done my BCom from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics with 75%
Have also done my Mcom from Mumbai University with 71%
I am a Chartered Accountant by Profession with articleship experience from Deloitte Haskins and Sells and also a mid size CA firm.
I have also cleared level 2 of International CFA.
I had scored 82% in 12th and 91% in 10th.
Post my qualification I have worked with National Stock Exchange(NSE) for 6 months and now handling my family owned financial services company. In total I have work experience of about 1yr 3months exclusive of my articleship experience. I have also teaching experience with a few of the local classes in subjects like Tax and Costing(not sure whether this would help or not).

I was also a part of my college Fest UMANG and have take part in various extra curricular activities at school and college level

Can someone please tell me as to what GMAT score do i need if I want to do MBA from top 25 colleges preferably and will my work experience with my dad's own financial service firm would be a a disadvantage as it is not a brand name.

Also please guide me as to which schools should I apply for and which points should I keep in mind which would strengthen my application process and will i be eligible for scholarship in any of the schools?

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for your post. Ultimately your school list will largely depend on your GMAT score. While the GMAT isn't the only factor in the decision making process, I do think it's fair to say that applicants should target schools with GMAT averages close to their own score. Given your interest in top 25 programs in the US, you will want to score at least 700 on the exam.

In regard to your question about working for the family business, this is not at all an issue provided you are doing a role that you are qualified to handle. Your credentials seem to justly fit your role and thus the adcom likely won't have concerns about nepotism or inflated job titles.

Once you take your GMAT you can use that score to help you identify your school list. Keep other factors such as location and class size in mind - they can help you narrow down your list.

Best,

Stacey
