I am not one of the usual MBA applicant with Engeneering/Science bankground and work ex in blue chip company, but have a dream of going to top US schools for MBA.
Here is my profile, and I would appreciate your honest feedback.
Age - 29
Gender- Female
Nationality- India
Education - Masters Psychology (78%, ranked 1 in class of 62), from a tier 2 universities in India
Post Graduate Diploma in Advertising and Public Relations from one of the best (top 3) communication institutes of India
GMAt - 700 (will aim higher if dont make it to B schools this year)
Work Ex - (2000-2003)3 years as a national news channel reporter, traveled across country covering human stories, specially rural/women issues (This is where I gained life-defining, enriching experiences)
(2003-2005) 2 years working for an NGO in rural India empowering women farmers innovating customize solutins for females in agricultral fields, focusing on indoor farming like mushrooms.
Last 2 years - Stay at home mom (working for the same NGO from home as a liasoning officer), as I had a baby and wanted to be a dedicated mom.
I want to gain MBA degree to strengthen my credentilas to start a company (not an NGO) for development of agriculture financing, specially for female farmers in India.
Extra Curricular - Working for above mentioned NGO
Published small stories in local newspapers and magazines
Full time Chef/teacher/janitor/playmate for a 2 year old baby girl.
I am eyeing round 2 for the following schools
HBS - Kennedy Center
Stanford
Kellogg
Columbia
Stern
No safety schools as i NEED to have MBA from top schools in order to break new grounds and get the VCs interested in my ideas about changing agricultre in rural India in 21st century
