Hi,

In view of the fact that there are so many out there receiving very valuable input from your end, this is my first post.

Please if you could me a clear picture of which universities I should realistically be looking at in the USA, based on the following:

Age-25
Gender- Female
GMAT -680(Q47 V34)
CPI - 6.3/10 - VNIT, Nagpur, India
BTech Electronics and Communication Engg

Work Experience- 3.5 years if entering September 2011.
2 years with Motorola as RF Engineer, Dubai
1.5 years with Ericsson as RF Engineer, Dubai

I am also a member of the company dance troupe for the biggest dance institute in the UAE, have received several certificates for dance and sports at university level. Won business plan competities at a national level in india, during colege. Was the founding member of the college newsletter. Have also won competitions involving public speaking and debate.

The universities I have narrowed down to are: Yale UCLA Tepper Cornell Maryland

With the deadlines approaching very fast, I would like to know how good a chance I stand with the universities that I have listed.
Also, if there are other universities that I should apply to where my profile would better fit.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Thanks for your post, and my apologies for the delay in responding. You have a great profile. Your work experience in Dubai combined with your dance experience should give you some interesting essay topics. It's great that you are able to find time to dance while balancing your career. You'll certainly want to look for ways to weave stories from your dancing experience into your essays - perhaps a teamwork example or even a personal challenge might work.

Your GMAT score, while solid, is a bit low relative to your peers in the applicant pool. It's a bit below the average at UCLA and Yale, and while it isn't enough to necessarily deny you, it might be a weak spot in your profile. Have you considered retaking the exam? A score of 700 could increase your odds of success.

Regards,

Stacey
