Hi! :D

This may seem too early on, but I plan to apply by 2020, and it would be nice if I got some feedback in order to work on a few things before my application process.
Anyways, here's my profile...

Hi,

Thanks for your post, and congrats to you for planning well in advance... it will only benefit you in the long run! Thanks for sharing all of the detail thus far. I like your international experiences, your internship, and I'm interested in your startup, congrats on getting that established! Depending up on how that all plays out, that could be of interest to the admissions committees certainly if you are able to reflect on what you learn from it and how it fits in to your overall story and future plans.

Here are some of the areas to focus on in the coming years keeping in mind your eventual goal of applying to a top MBA program:

1- As you mentioned, nail the GMAT! Don't underestimate the preparation required and keep in mind many applicants take it more than once these days, and that averages at top schools continue to creep upward, so there's a chance that will continue in the coming years and a 730/740 NOW could be slightly different in several years.

2- Create a strong professional profile. The average incoming student at top schools has 5 years of experience, ideally with examples of leadership and teamwork and initiative taken; progression and recognition; people & project management. See where you can make an impact on the job and go above and beyond. Aim to gain skills you feel will help you in your future career!

3- Related to #2, work on identifying your longer term career goals and plans, ensuring that your current/past professional experience and the MBA will help you reach those goals. Research your plans and as it gets closer, identify your immediate post-MBA goals in particular.

4- Focus on community involvement that you are passionate for!

5- Cultivate strong relationships with those who may write your recommendations in the future.

6- Research and visit specific schools, and talk with students and alumni from each program you consider.

Hope that gets you off to a good start! When you are say 6-12 months out from applying, reach out to us for a free consultation at www.mbamission.com/consult. Good luck!
