Hi @Nad.452- remember this is not a gumball machine... where you put in a GMAT score and out pops a school acceptance! You'd have to give a little more detail to get any useful information! That being said, with only 1 yr work now you would be light for top 10, in 3-4 yrs the Booz connection could help, you also need to demonstrate leadership in the community also- so use these next few years to make an impact on a cause you care about. This will be good for you regardless of b-school but it has the bonus of helping to show a habit of leadership in both personal and professional pursuits. I'd use this time to excel at work but also to learn about MBA programs- do you like big cities, small class size, lots of hands on learning? You need to ask yourself these questions and in doing so you will narrow your own list down so you can focus on really knowing those schools well. Our firm offers a profile development review service for just a few hours of counseling we help you develop a strategy so that when you are ready to apply to B school you can be a top applicant. To answer the question of if the 46Q is good enough for a top program - the decision to admit is never made in pure isolation on the GMAT quant. Does this 46Q help you to get into a top program- not really. 62% quant is not the bar you are trying to hit- the very top programs want people scoring 49, 50 or even 51 - but are there people in the top programs with a 46Q score- I'm sure there are. Not as many as the 49Q people- but if other things are exceptional... like maybe that 3.8 GPA... great leadership, great rec letters etc... then a school may take you IN SPITE of the 46Q. Does that help you to see the landscape more clearly? The top schools can get people who have the top scores in everything- sometimes if someone is a little less on one part however, and everything else is just amazing, a top program can forgive a few imperfections if there is something else amazing in the package. So the question to ask yourself is what else is OVER the bar and amazing that would make a top program be willing to eat that Q score and lower their own average? And that my friend, is the $64K question that requires self analysis on your part- and if you choose-- you get the expertise of a firm like StratusPrep where we have former adcoms and alums from the top programs who know how this game is played from the inside and we can tell you the truth about where you stand before you apply and help you shore up whatever weakness you have (and everyone has some kind of weakness).
