I am considering the application to Columbia, Stern, MIT, IESE, INSEAD and LBS. I have not yet decided when to apply so I could wait a year if that would significantly strenghten the application.

Demographic:
Male / 27 / Spanish

Experience:
- 4 years full-time as system and process auditor in big 4 with duties including financial statement audit support and leading small teams. On the first year I was finishing my master thesis despite working fulltime.
- 2.5 years R&D internship during college in a top global telecom operator

GMAT:
730: Q47, V44, AWA: 4.5

College:
MS Telecommuncations Engineering at top Spanish engineering university. GPA 3.1 (converted accordig to WES). The second half of the degree was completed while working (2.5 years part-time and 1 full-time).

Extra-curricular activities:
Soccer team camptain and some voluntary service.

Goals:
Move to a top management consulting firm, but also I would like to keep the door opened to IB.

Thanks!

Dear dntdntdnt,

Waiting a year to simply add quantity to your work experience will not strengthen your application based on the profile posted. If you will be taking on a leadership role in the office like managing a team or significant project--something that will add depth and accomplishments to your resume--then that might be worth delaying your application. But you don't need another year in terms of quantity as you would be entering with 5 years experience if you proceed with an application to enter in 2012. You have a competitive profile for your target schools; however, decisions are made on the overall application not a profile. Be sure to use your essays, recommendations and interviews to strengthen your case and demonstrate why you should be offered a seat in the class.

Good luck,
Lisa

Thanks a lot Lisa,

The 4 years work experience I posted account for the experience I will have when starting the programe, so to have 5 years WE I should wait another year. Anyway I think my responsabilities and leadership in that last year whould be very similar to my current ones so maybe it is not worth to wait.

I am aware of the importance of all elements of the application.
