Thanks for your questions. I want to challenge your thinking on which schools are your 'top' choices. While I think you do indeed have a shot at any or every school on your list, based upon your background and on what you think you want to do post-MBA, i'd be ranking the Georgia Tech MBA and Carnegie Mellon a bit higher. Also, what about Haas or Sloan? The technology network alone of any of these schools will likely help you tremendously as you pursue your stated goals. I also happen to know from an inside source that GA Tech is coming up short on qualified applicants for this fall's class and you might could leverage your Tech connections to work your way in to this fall if you are savvy (despite the passed deadlines). If you are waiting until 2012, don't get me wrong--it would be great to go to HBS, but ask yourself if you are applying there because it's HBS, or because you truly believe it's the best match for you? As for your efforts to start your own solar company, by all means it counts as experience even though you say you have "nothing to show." how about the funds raised? That alone shows a tremendous amount of work and passion, and also proves that people believe in you. I would say that if you interview well and you can express yourself convincingly in essays, you should have more than one school wanting to pick you up. It is a very interesting piece of info you shared about Gatech's fall'11 class. Have you seen cases where admission is granted past the admission deadline? Also, If i talk to them sometime next week and they don't/can't consider me for this year, does that hurt my chances when i apply again next year? I am concerned because I am just starting out with my application process and have not started out on any essays.
