Profile Evaluation Please

Hi All,

I am new to this forum and this is my first post. I am targeting the admission for 2016-2018.
Just wanted some kind guidance to decide the colleges to apply.

Age: 28
GMAT: Female
Nationality: India
GMAT Score: 740
Work Experience:
5+ years as Software Developer with Tata Consultancy Services including 1 year work experience in UK.

Education:Bachelor of Computer Science (3 yrs/CGPA = 7.0/10) from Average university in India.
Masters in Computer application (3 Yrs/CGPA = 7.1/10) from Average university in India.

Voluntary Work: Worked part time with an NGO towards welfare of Girl Child in India

Extra Curricular Activities: I play keyboard and have done foreign language courses.
I don't have any major achievements in my kitty.

I want to target top B schools- LBS, Havard, Stanford, Yale etc. But not sure if I have a chance to get accepted in these B schools. Also, I am not too confident with my english as I am not a native speaker.

Please suggest some TOP colleges that I can apply in.

Hi,

You have decent profile and work experience. You also have solid GMAT score but the only doubt I have is why are you planning for 2016 intake you can confidently build your profile and apply for 2015 intake itself.Don't worry about your English proficiency as your GMAT score will take care of it. You have fair chances and ideally you should target minimum 5-6 schools to increase your chances.

First of all congrats on that AWESOME GMAT!! It will help a LOT! that and being female

But my first question to you is: What else you got?

Okay you have good software Development skills, but what else??? There are hundreds and thousands of great software developers. But what makes you unique? What makes you special? What do you have in your profile that will make the Adcoms of top schools say: She would do awesome as a manager?

THAT is what you need to seek out if you want to attempt applying to top schools.

Hey there,

I agree with Jon - you're going to dig deep to bring everything you can to the table. The top schools aren't looking for software developers. They can find folks that code easily enough. They're looking for leadership. For drive. For impact. For scope. For collaboration and innovation. They're looking for amazing applicants.

You have a lot of things working for you. Amazing GMAT? Check (and congrats!). Pedigree company? Yup. But your profile has a few softer spots as well.
