Hi,

Stacy and company, thank you for all your help on this forum, I'd like to submit my brief profile to see if I am competitive for a top 10-15 school?

some stats
GPA: 2.9 in Business Administration from california state school
Male, 25, Chinese american
GMAT: 710 (balanced verbal / math)

Work experience
2 years as IT consultant in small firm consulting financial services companies.
1 year as product manager at consumer internet company (lost funding)
1 year in startup incubator, trying to do a startup (currently)

leadership
-leadership team in club in college
-help start team that consults nonprofits on marketing and engagement strategy

branding / profile
bootstrapping entrepreneur?

i am interested in starting my own company, joining a startup after my mba.

Thoughts, advice, opinions?

Let me know if there is any further information I could provide that would make it easier to evaluate my candidacy.

Thanks!

Dear exodus7,

Based on the limited information provided, I think you might be able to submit a competitive application to a top 20 school. Your GMAT is in range, but your GPA is low. Thus your essays, recommendations, and interviews are critical to the ultimate decision. Be sure to convey your successful leadership and teamwork experiences in your essays as well as a solid rationale for getting your MBA in relation to your past experiences and future career goals. Finally, you might want to have 1-2 safety schools on your list. While you have a shot at a top 20, it is always good to have a backup plan.

Best of luck,
Lisa
