Hi,

I wonder if you could offer me some opinion about my profile/chances for applying to b-schools this fall. I took GMAT today and I don't know what to think...

Nationality: spanish
Gender: Female
Age:26
TOEFL: 110
GMAT: 640 (Q45 V33 percentile 75), I took it today and I have been studying for 2 months. Right now I am quite exhausted of studying GMAT and I am not sure if its risky to try again, have a bad day and score lower or if I could really get closer to 700...

Degree: Telecommunications Engineering, top 5% of the class. President of student body.
Admitted and attended Stanford Summer Institute for General Management in 09
Extracurricular activities: volunteer as a teacher in a geriatric institution for several years, created some professional websites for customers, started a small online travel agency ...

Work Experience: 3 years in an american company, awarded best team player Q3 09 and awarded top 10 world employee Q2 2010 for outstanding performance.

Target schools: Stanford, NYU, Berkeley

Hi,

Thanks for your post. Congrats on taking the GMAT. While a 640 is a good score, I understand your frustration and desire to score closer to 700. As exhausted from studying as you may be at this point, I strongly do recommend that you consider retaking the exam. Yes, there is a risk that your score will go down, but there is also a chance that it will improve. Perhaps take a week or so off from studying and then begin to prepare again. Scoring 700 or greater on the exam will certainly help boost your profile and put you a lot closer to the average GMAT at your schools of interest.

Other than the GMAT you seem to have a solid profile. Consider using your experience teaching or starting your travel company as potential essay topics.
