Thanks for your post. Given the limited information you've shared it is a bit difficult for me to assess your profile and your ability to be competitive for admission at the programs on your list. Why do you wish to get an MBA right out of undergrad? What are your short term and long term goals?

Well the main reason is that i really want to be a part of the financial world. I kind of always have.
I took engineering because in India that is the safest bet at getting a good job.Though I am pretty good at it I still feel the need to be associated with all what the financial world has to offer!

Well i did my internship at a firm that deals with Business Intelligence,Analytics ...
Besides I have organized several events in my college Cultural and technical fests...
So few examples where I could elaborate on leadership roles...
I also am on the board of ACM(Association for Computing Machinery)-Documentation head.

Hobbies-badminton,hiking, traveling!

Could you suggest some steps that I could take to differentiate my profile a bit!

Thanks for the additional information. The most critical step for you right now is to clearly define your goals and necessitate the need for an MBA. Simply stating you've always had an interest in finance, but chose to study engineering since it's "safer" won't really work in your essays and interviews. The adcom may question your judgment and ability to make key decisions. I encourage you to dig deeper. Why finance? What role do you envision? How can you combine the education you already have with an MBA to be successful in this role? Clearly defined goals and the ability to convince the adcom that an MBA is optional for you will help you stand out in the crowded applicant pool.

Yeah So I'm told alot by people that I need to dig deep and find out and convince myself first as to why I need an MBA right now and then try to convince others....

What I want to know is whether I need to portray a broad career goal or something very specific... Like I would eventually like to the Country Manager of so n so in 3 years!!!

1.)How specific must this goal be
2.)What can I use to shw the adcom That Im serious.... ABt Changing Careers...
i HVE my internship in a BUsiness INTELLIGENCE FIRM, aN XTRA COURSES IN eCONOMICS,aTTENDIND AN ENTREPRENEURSHIP CAMP. dreamt abt it since I was little and did my House tax returns wen I was 13 Wid my Chartered Accountant with whom I had Plenty of chats with which was da main reason I think the interest persists today!

What other kind of goals or achievements does one usually add to bolster the claim that I have thought this through and it is just not a passing "Fling"!!!

While you want to be specific and demonstrate your goals are fully developed, you may not want to box yourself into a very specific title/role. The point of a career goals essay is to connect the dots between what you've been doing, the MBA, and what you wish to do. Being specific is important, but just be sure you don't limit yourself to only one role (especially a role that is so defined and limited).
