GMAT Score:700
Hello,

I wrote the test a week before and scored 720 (Q 50, V 37). I am working in Construction MNC in Procurement (Supply Chain). I have worked as Buyer for 2 Years and currently working as an Expeditor. I have coordinated the procurement of spare parts worth $58.5 Mn and was solely responsible to Client as company's representative to present weekly progress report. I have procured material worth $2.3Mn for the world's largerst green field aluminium smelter project as a buyer and expedited orders worth $4.2Mn against suppliers in 4 continents. As Expeditor I have made 10+ shipments from various locations at project site.I have been recognized in the company four times for Communication, Innovation, Knowledge of Work and Ownership.

I have recently completed 6 sigma yellow Belt certification through company and worked on reduction of shipment delays. My recommended actions to reduce the delays would be implemented from October'13.

I have had 2 startups
a. Mechatronics: giving consultation on robotics.
b. Nakurikajugaad.com: consultation on personal development.

I had presented a business plan and got into top 20 business plans in India, the event was covered by ET Now;

Extra Curricular -
I am Vice Chairman of Socials Ccommitte, New Delhi, in my company
I have won various laurels in Western Free style Dance
Won couple of car drag races
Won various robotics competetion.
Raised money for charity during diwali by selling chocolates on the day.
Won Mr. Personality Award in College.

Above is my profile, and I would like to pursue Consulting as my career after MBA. Could you please inform me how good a chance I hold at 720 and 3 Years of Work Exp(by the time i will join school) with strong LORs. How big a pool is Supply chains's? Would this score be a hindrance? Also, is the profile good enough to crack the interview (though i know interviewers test many other skills but I would like to know your views on content).
Cheers,

Shantanu

You are better off working a few more years. Most folks from industry (supply chain, manufacturing, auto, mining, energy, etc.) tend to have around 4-7 years of work experience at matriculation.

With schools outside of India (especially the UK/Euro schools), they will be especially concerned about your lack of exposure to other cultures. In plain English, you'll be up against a lot of other Indians who have lived and worked full-time outside of India (and will have had more exposure to different cultures on a continuous basis) than you, and as such will have a big advantage over you - not to mention that they will also have had 4-7 years of experience.

Now, it's not impossible to get into a non-Indian b-school straight from India with no full-time experience abroad, but you're going to need more years of experience.

Hi Shantanu,

You have a good GMAT, ECS & achievements. Although your work experience is on lower side, however you can apply in b-schools by writing strong application essays and demonstrating leadership qualities, achievememnts, ability to work with others & other aptitudes during final interviews. INSEAD & LBS would be ambitious. ISB, Said & Judge should be within your reach.

You may PM your details to have a discussion in length on selection of b-schools or profile evaluation.

Regards
Erina
