Hi,
I am an multi-ethnic(Chinese, born in Venezuela, immigrated into the US) candidate. I lived up in an predominant latino community in East Los Angeles when I was in middle school and high school. I am the first generation in graduating from middle school, high school, college, and hopefully graduate school in my family.
My GPA is 3.1 from UC Berkeley. Majored in Economics. Had a 2.12 GPA in freshmen year and basically got 3.3-3.7 GPA for my last few semester there. My coursework was more intensive in quantitative side than most business/econ majors. I just took my GMAT yesterday and got 670 (47/35). I scored around 48/38 during practice, but I am not a good test taker (stuff happens when I take the real test).
I have 4 years of experience: roughly 1-2 years at an Panasonic's avionics entertainment engineering firm doing logistic and material planning, but my responsibility grew enormously, and 3 years doing finance analysis and accounting for a small niche military contractor where I have worked in various department such as document controls, project management, and sales.
As for my extracurricular activities, I was a vice-president of marketing for an entrepreneur club, team leader for a Haas MBA level consulting project, taught undergraduate business class at UC Berkeley, tutored underprivileged K-12 kids, captain of a recreational tennis team for 2 seasons (happened after I started working), and started an online streaming radio. I have spent at between 1-3 years in each of those activities.
My target schools are:
UCLA: Anderson
HEC-Paris
UT: McCombs
UCI: Merage
Univ of Rochester: Simon
HKUST
I will be applying in round 2 for their full time MBA program.
I am looking into an career in international business where I can do strategy, marketing, and IT (some combination of that). Also looking toward an entrepreneur spirited school.
Let me know what my chances are, what I should work on in my application, how should I take advantage of my minority situation, and if there are other schools that I might be interested.
