Hello Team,

Request you to evaluate my profile for an MBA admit based on the stats below. It would be great if you could also help me understand how to improve the same.

GMAT - 740
Grad score - 66.7% over 4 years. B.E. in Electrical engineering.
Work ex - 4 years 10 months as on prospective joining date. Currently working as a Partner Consultant with Microsoft India.
CSR - Minor volunteer work with Microsoft India CSR division and some time as a volunteer for Teach for India during engineering.
Post MBA - Would preferably go in for IT consulting/Business Development for IT Organizations.

Please let me know if any other information is required.

Please evaluate keeping in mind that I would be applying only to the United States and Canada due to personal reasons.

A few schools I have in mind (please rate them as ambitious, moderate and safe based on your experience). Full time MBA sought. Please feel free to add any other schools which you feel would be appropriate for my profile.

MIT Sloan
NYU Stern
Chicago Booth
Columbia
CMU Tepper
Duke Fuqua
Dartmouth Tuck
Michigan Ross
Maryland Smith
Georgetown
UCLA Anderson
Toronto Rottman
Texas Austin McCombs
Cornell SC Johnson
Yale SOM
Hult Boston/SF

Thanks,

Hello Sahai1987,

I think you have an over average academic scores and professional experience for Indian Candidates. As far as schools are concerned, you have more than decent shot at schools like Tepper, UCLA and Johnson.

However, I might be very biased because a lot depends on how your essays are presented, what is the quality of your work experience, and (specially in school selection) what is your post-MBA goal among other factors. For example, schools like Krannert have a brand name in Operations, Vanderbilt Owen in Healthcare and Tepper, Maryland for Information Management.

I myself am targeting IT Strategy Consultant post-MBA, and will be matriculating from Georgetown this fall. I have also secured admits from Rotman and Maryland in below list.

Happy to share more insights with you.
