Joshi--congrats on your decision to pursue the MBA. Your applicant pool is large and while your GMAT score will likely fall below your pool average, it's a good score and shouldn't be a detriment. The challenge for you will be standing out amongst a throng of qualified applicants from India,and yes, b-schools tend to lump similar applicants together in order to diversify their student body. For this reason, you need to put some thoughtful analysis into what it is that sets you apart. The "typical" Indian applicant either works for a family business or works in IT, so right off the bat you will be differentiating yourself by coming with an HR background. Make sure you sell the committee on how your HR experience will not only help land you a consulting job, but will be valuable in the classroom at INSEAD. Be passionate about your goals and detailed in the description of your personal story. You are the only applicant with your unique combination of life experience, so don't fall into the trap of listing your attributes instead of telling your story. There is a big difference in the two!
