I'd like your evaluation of my profile, and opinion of a school choice.
Vital Statistics:
Age: 22
Education: Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, University of Michigan, awarded December 2006
GPA: 3.05
GMAT Score: 720 (44 V, 46 Q, 6.0 AWA) (96th %ile overall)
Extracurricular during college: active in IEEE, intramural football
Achievements: member of a IEEE Region 4 winning student project team (write-up could be published)
Work Experience: This is tricky, because I do not have an "official" full time position. I say with quotes because I work 40 hours a week and have a pretty significant role, but my company officially lists me as part-time because I'm trying to pursue school. Therefore, when it comes to applications, I have no choice but to put '0' for full time work experience, since I'm fresh out of college.
Motivation: I want to switch career paths and study finance, management, and consulting, combined with my technical background.
Other info: I applied to, and was turned down from, Northwestern, U of Chicago, and NYU.
Though I think I already know the answer, can you give me an honest evaluation of my profile against those schools, and the likely roadblocks to admission?

To the second part of my question: I am still pursuing schools, specifically The University of Miami (FL). I received a mailer from them, informing me I was eligible for a graduate assistanship due to my high GMAT score.
This really has my interest, for several reasons. First, an assistanship will alleviate some of the cost, and prevent my debt from becoming immense.
Secondly, I really want to attend school now (starting Fall 2007). I do not see myself going back to school in 4 or 5 years, as I have no idea what my life will be like personally or professionally. I am not the type of person who would put their life on hold for the sake of such a degree. My respect to those that do, but that simply is not me.
So, with that being said, Miami seems a pretty attractive opportunity. Their published statistics (average GMAT, placement, etc) seem good, and Miami is obviously a great place to live, while also being a business hub. The only thing I do not like is the career placement services seem to leave a bit to be desired.
Can you give me an evaluation of Miami School of Business, and an honest opinion on whether it is worth pursuing? Perhaps you have information I do not regarding its academic reputation and prospects.
