Tough to assess your ding fully without a lot more context and info... but potential concerns that could have been raised, that come to me just with reading your brief info here include:

-experience looks very technical and potentially lack of leadership experiences or few/less areas you can truly say you made an impact???

-your goals perhaps came across as weak or uncertain? saying you are "open to x", especially with several very different options, won't be enough to get you into b-school generally... you do need to sound like you know what sort of job you will get right after b-school.

It would be tougher to find a school still accepting apps this late, though not entirely impossible. In terms of bolstering your application for the following year, see my concerns above. Focus on how you can really show leadership and people skills; take on a new project or initiative where you can strengthen management or communication skills. Get involved in the community. Do further research to solidify your goals and reasons for applying for the MBA. Good luck to you !
