Hi,
A - set of companies that offer wireless internet access
B - set of airlines that offer passengers free on-board snacks
They are both independent i.e. one doesn't have any relation with the other. So, maximum value of intersection will be the smallest of the two sets.
Cheers!

Hi,
The intersection of 2 sets is never more than each of the two sets right?
So, intersection can be maximum when the smaller set entirely lies in the bigger set i.e. One is the subset of the other. In this case, intersection is equal to the smaller set right?
Cheers!

Hi,

This problem requires almost no mathematical thought. If you start to diagram this you are already falling into a trap.

70% have characteristic X.
30% have characteristic Y.

It is possible to have both characteristics at the same time.

Given that, the greatest % that could have both would be if ALL 30% that have characteristic Y also have characteristic X.

30% wireless, 70% snacks
max of both means, all the wireless also provide snacks
Thus 30%
