This is a GRE Quantitative Comparison question, posted on a wrong forum. Anyways, the positive square root of 36 + 49 is greater than +7, but the negative square root is less.
Although, we are recommended to consider only the positive square root of a positive number x, in case it is emblematically written as √x, but when the same is written in words, like "Square root (36+49)" as presented by you in the column B, it creates doubt; hence make sure what prevented you use "√" in column B, is it the unavailability of it on the qwerty keys, or it was originally given like that. B is the answer in the former case, and D in the later case.
