hey guys,

i have a question regarding prime numbers rules.

lets say x/6.

the prime factors of x=3,2

if we are to determine whether x is even or odd, WHY is the answer that x is even since it is divisible by 2 when it is also divisible by 3 which would in the same reasoning say that x is odd.

When a # is divisible by 3, it need not be odd. It could either be even or odd. 18 is divisible by 3 and is a even #.

Hope this clarifies this point.

Going forward, you could however say that only even multiples of 3 are divisible by 6. Odd multiples of 3 are not divisible by 6. Hope this helps.

The definition of an even number is that it is divisible by 2. An odd number is one that is NOT divisible by 2. Once a number is even it doesn't matter what else it can be divided by.
