Hi Prateek

I have seen some expert gave you really wonderful advice. I am not a GMAT expert but I see as a test taker I did exactly what you are doing. So my 2c as a test taker.

When you are starting try not to jump straight into practice tests. I started at 380 (official score). I dint study anything from the first test. Just went to test the depth of the water. Expensive mistake lol. anyhow once i completed the official test I tried give as many tests as possible but trying to learn from the tests itself (which is not the right approach). The correct approach is to learn the basics first and then take tests.

As you learn to remember and apply the basics you will see scores improve with time. One needs patience and commitment. Also, there are experts in the forum to always help you.

Buy a set of books and course you prefer then take your time and sit down and study (without worrying about the score). Good Luck!

I DEFINITELY struggled when first starting my studying about 2 weeks ago. I took the practice test once before I did any studying, and scored a 430. I was soo frustrated so now I have been doing the 60 day study plan. One thing that I have noticed is you have to go in with a positive attitude!! When I went into studying being mad at the math because I couldn't figure it out, I would just get very frustrated and not allow myself to really understand the lesson. You have to allow yourself to fail at first, from that, you will see where you can improve. And just keep going on that. I'm hoping that will help my bad practice score too!

received a pm.

start by reading the following post regarding the correct mentality for the verbal section. if you don't think about the verbal section in the right way, then progress will be basically impossible.

then, check out the various posts linked in the following thread:
