Test2-126.

Because she knew many of the leaders of colonial America and the American Revolution personally, Mercy Otis Warren was continually at or near the center of political events from 1765 to 1789, a vantage point combining with her talent for writing to make her one of the most valuable historians of the era.

(A) a vantage point combining with her talent for writing to make
(B) a vantage point, when combined with her talent for writing, that made
(C) a vantage point that combined with her talent for writing, and it made
(D) and this vantage point, which combined with her talent for writing to make
(E) and this vantage point, combined with her talent for writing, made

Ans:
(E)
My question is--
If (B) is changed in the following way, will it be correct?
a vantage point that, when combined with her talent for writing, made

If you combine a vantage point to her writing skill, that is combining that period to her skill, doesnot make a sence to me at all.

Gow ith E

What is wrong with A - construction unidiomatic ?

and why is B wrong - I see that usage of "when" can be a problem

Can you please provide the OEs also

I chose B coz when describes the time period and seems to be grammatically correct...

Wouldnt D/E change the meaning of the sentence???

The only reason why i find E correct is because of the word made ....
combined with her talent for writing , made her one ....

that is redundant here .

IMO
