I plan on taking the GMAT approximately 1 year from today. With time on my side, I was wondering if I could begin "sharpening the saw" so to speak. Are there any proven preparation techniques or exercises I could begin performing today? I'm talking 20-30 minutes each day. What is the best way I could prepare myself going into the months of test preparation (diagnostic testing - weakness identification - study plan)?

To improve my reading comprehension, I've built a great habit of reading a challenging book every 1-2 weeks. I'm enrolling in a transcendental meditation class next month; this could help cope with the stress. And of course, physical preparation cannot be overlooked; regular exercise, healthy diet, ext. I'm not sure what I could be doing now to help me with the Quant.

Any suggestions?

Read newspapers, and/or do some reading articles from the OG (official guide) every day. Reading books definitely helps, but you're going to be reading articles from several areas that are about 500 words in length. Therefore, read varied passages from newspapers and the OG to get a better test of what the GMAT is look.
