There are a few good ones, and a LOT of not-so-good ones.

The best, most reliable tests are the GMATPrep ones you can download from mba.com. There are only two, which is not as many as most people seem to want. But I have my students limit themselves to those two, and they are usually successful.

That is encouraging because I have taken 3 Kaplan tests and have not scored over 520. I am very discouraged by this as I have been studying very intensely for 3 weeks now. I guess I assumed the most effective form of study was practice tests.

What do you recommend then as the most effective form of study? Any thoughts on online courses or class courses? My goal score is 660...test date is scheduled for early November.

Do not worry about Kaplan scores. I scored a 570 on one of them and ended up getting 750 on the big day. I would recommend OG11 and Manhattan SC guide (if SC is you weakness). Check my debrief in the 'I just beat the GMAT' section for more details on books I used.

Focus on quality instead of quantity during your prep. Even if you solve a question correctly, spend time on it and figure out different ways of doing it, what 'could have' went wrong, what are the traps and stuff like that.
