Practice tests...GMATprep vs. MGMAT?

by justbeatit » Thu Aug 07, 2008 2:13 am
Hi guys

Just wanted to get your thoughts on practice tests...

Ive been getting 710 and 720 on GMATprep practice tests but have fallen slightly to 680 (both times) on the Manhattan GMAT practice tests.

Is this because MGMAT is harsher than GMATprep in scoring? I didn't notice any drastic differences in the style of Qs between the two testmakers.

I guess my higher GMATprep scores could be attributed to myself having gone through the OG+Verb+Quant review hence seeing some repeated Qs in GMATprep...

Any thoughts welcome!

MGMAT is reputed to be quite a bit harder, so yes, that would likely explain it!

680, 710 and 720 are close enough that it could be simply due to differences in the algorithm used to calculate scores. Remember that the GMATPrep is the most accurate predictor of success as the questions used are real questions and the cat algorithm is the real algorithm used in the GMAT. In other words, you're well on your way...
