Practice Test Q42 V43, Need Quant Prep Ideas

Hey Everyone!

I've been reading this forum for months and it has been great! I'm taking the GMAT for the second time on May 27th and am having trouble getting my quant score above 42 or 43. The first time I took the exam (February) I scored a 670, Q40 V42. Now I'm shooting for at least 700. Does anyone have ideas on how to improve quant score above that threshold? I can't seem to figure out what the problem is (besides not being a math whiz)! MGMAT practice tests seem to be brutal! I have all the MGMAT books and am working on the last one (Geometry) now. Thank you!!!

Build a solid foundation by working on the basics. Quant is child's play if you have the fundamentals in place. Ask a question yourself when you see a formula as why this formula is like this. Doing this will help you understand the basics and GMAT Quant is all about implementing those fundamentals in a twisted manner. Do let me know in case you still have doubts.

Please reciprocate by explaining how to improve Verbal(RC,CR,SC). My target score in verbal is exactly equal to your present score in verbal. ( I used to get around 35 in mock test but got a embarrassing 30 on GMAT).

Vikram,

Thanks for the reply, I am actually going over the basics sections of each of the MGMAT quant books again. As for verbal, I actually didn't do a lot of prep, that was always my best section. The SC can definitely be killer, the MGMAT SC book is great. Also, memorizing the idioms is painful but probably necessary. Taking notes during the RC passages can be helpful when you are feeling tired and overwhelmed.
