OA is b

Any idea on why option B is incorrect

In option A, AMONG is a preposition that denotes sharing of a common features. But according to this option, only nineteen of them were describe. This needs to be better explain but the use of AMONG in it does not fully decipher the whole content. Therefore making the option wrong.

Option B gives a perfect sentence construction. ''nineteen'' of which are officially recognized. OF WHICH here is used to differentiate the thousand from the nineteen. since the emphasis is all on the nineteen, it has to be clearly distinguish. That is why option B is the correct option

Option C- ''have official recognition''.
Well, HAVE is a possessive verb. The subject here is a non living thing, therefore possessing it will be illogical. Thus making the option wrong

In option D, OF WHOM won't go in here. WHOM is a pronoun to ask of what person or people are involve in a thing or to ask questions about a person or a group of persons. It has no reason to be part of this construction. Hence, the option is incorrect

Option E is an incomplete statement. It does not have a syntax connection with the first clause, they aren't in synergy. It is just a sentence standing on it own without making a sensible connection with the previous sentence. Thus this option is incorrect too.

Option B is the correct answer.

What we want here is a modifier that gives the reader some information on the "at least thousand islands" present on the archipelago. The original intent of the sentence is that out of these 1000 islands - and not another set of islands - 19 are officially recognized. So we need the preposition "of" to convey this information. This is best given by option B. Let us go through the other options -

A. among whom nineteen have official recognition - "whom" can be used only to refer to people.
C. nineteen that have official recognition - here the sentence looks like that apart from the 1000 archipelago islands mentioned, there is another set of islands that have official recognition. We need the preposition "of" to make it clear that we are talking about the same set of islands.
D. of whom nineteen have official recognition - same as A.
E. nineteen that are officially recognized - same as C.

Hence, B is the correct answer.

Please let me know if anything doesn't make sense.
