“Location has traditionally been one of the most important determinants of a business’s success. The importance of location is not likely to change, no matter how advanced the development of computer communications and others kinds of technology becomes.”
Discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the opinion stated above. Support your views with reasons and/or examples from your own experience, observations, or reading.

Response

The topic of the issue is the role of locations in business success. I would strongly support the author's view that "Location has traditionally been once of the most important determinants of business success".

Firtly I would say that there is a strong relation between the type of business and the Location. Consider a pestiside retail chain, it would be more sucessfull if the business is established around rural area, as more pestisides would be used for cultivation in the rural places. If you take the case of large meteros where we have good communications and technology support but still the success of the pestiside retail chain is unlikely.

Secondly I would like to highlight the importance of the workforce availablity and success of business. Take the case of BPO industry, india has a large pool of workforce which is available at low cost. So BPO inducstry has highly been successfull in india than in many other devloped countire, where there are better insfrastructure and communication are available than in india.

Thought location may be an important determinat of most business but here are still some business whould require technology support. With the development of internet may new varties of business have evolved like the web marketting. These busines would require good technology support than the location, as these busness can run from any place in the world give we have good communication is available.

I would conclude stating that location places a vital role in the success of a business. Though we may come across some cases where tecnlogy place a vital role, but looking at greater detail these business success would also depend on the location where these technology is widley available,.
